The storyline traces the adventure of two Mormon evangelists as they endeavor to share their faith with the inhabitants of a modest Ugandan settlement. Conceived by the makers of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, along with the record-breaking Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony recipient, Robert Lopez, the score is renowned for earning its very own Tony Award.

In response to pleas from cast members to reassess the depiction of black characters in light of worries about racial equality, a few lyrics and points of the plot were slightly altered back in 2021. However, the ideas of friendship, faith, and positivity, which surpass all religions, persist the same throughout the play.
In their assessment, The New York Daily News describes how The Book of Mormon is a show where you frequently find yourself laughing one minute and subsequently realize your mouth agape the next, finally tearing up and, eventually, cheering for the lead singers. Writers Stone and Parker are infamous for their "take-no-prisoners, nothing-is-sacred approach to comedy."

Furthermore, Lopez demonstrates a skill for thumbing his nose at modern norms. As all three share credit for the book, music, and lyrics, this show can be labeled as "foolish, heartfelt, and remarkably impolite, while the score consistently bright and intelligent keeps the pages in this Book rotating effortlessly.”

The Eugene O'Neill Theatre is viewed as one of the top venues for in-demand Broadway shows in the whole New York! Come the stage at New York for the best viewing encounter of The Book of Mormon.
