Created by Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, The Book of Mormon challenges our orthodox view of religion and the way that religious teachings and stories are told, staging the musical and its takeaways through satire and comedy. The show shares the story of two Latter-Day Saints (LDS) missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, trying to convert the local population of a village in Uganda and their unexpected challenges to find the appropriate methods to teach their religious teachings.

Lauded as one of the most modern and creative Broadway shows of all time, The Book of Mormon has been a fan favorite from all around the globe. In its tour over a number of cities in the United States, London’s West End, and Australia to name a few, the musical comedy has been met with an impressive reception from viewers and sold-out shows. In New York, it is expected to be no different as the performance on Saturday 11th October 2025 will be staged in Eugene O'Neill Theatre, with a reputation of running the premier plays and musicals, and loved by fans because of its beautiful facilities and adequate seating.
The Book of Mormon is a musical about religious teachings and stories, specifically Mormon missionaries named Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, as they are ordered to spread their religion’s faith and teachings to a small local village in Uganda. They come to find out however, the locals do not care about their preaching, as they face issues of their own. The pair then clash because of their methods to convert the locals, with Cunnigham’s often involving adding fiction and fantasy to his religious teachings.
To date, The Broadway hit has won several awards in both Broadway and West End, including nine Tony Awards out of fourteen total nominations, including for Best Musical after its debut in 2011, four Drama Desk Awards, and three Outer Circle Critics awards. In the West End production of the show which debuted in 2013 at the Prince of Wales theatre, it won four Laurence Olivier Awards again including for Best Musical. Then from the other side of the world, from the Australian tour in 2017, it also won two Helpmann Awards that also included for Best Musical.
Monetarily, The Book of Mormon has also achieved smashing monetary success with more than 4,600 performances as of the end of 2023. It has earned over $1 billion dollars worldwide, and was even favored by the church through ad buys of ad space, billboards, bus advertising space, and other marketing campaigns in the several cities in which the show performed in.
