All the way from Broadway, it’s time for New York to gear up and get ready as the musical comedy Book of Mormon will be performing in New York at Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Friday 10th October 2025.
The mindblowing and sometimes humorously offensive musical Book of Mormon is focused on of two Mormon Elders in training to become missionaries – Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, who are sent on a mission to a remote village in Uganda to preach to its residents. The play deliberately satirizes faith in general through the eyes of the pair, as Cunningham comes up with an unorthodox manner to teach religion to the locals.
The Book of Mormon was produced by Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, the same creators of the animated TV series South Park and the musical Avenue Q.

Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham are two coming of age Mormon missionaries sent on a mission to a local Ugandan village. Their goal is to convert the locals to their faith, but they realize upon their arrival that their job is more difficult than they had realized, given the abundance of local issues that the villagers face such as oppression, an HIV/AIDS epidemic, and poverty among others. The pair then gradually realize that they must utilize more unusual means to get through to the locals than the traditional means that they know.
It is in the pair’s differing ways where the performance of The Book of Mormon excels – allowing a serious topic of religion to be blasphemed and made fun of with comedy, showtunes, and a bit of foulmouthed language, yet still remaining acceptable to its audience. Since its premiere in 2011, the The Book of Mormon has been received positively despite its manner of sharing its story. The church itself supported the musical, purchasing ads and releasing slogans specifically that stated: “You’ve seen the play, now read the book.” In its West End productions, the repeatedly sold-out shows were proof of The Book of Mormon’s success. Though most viewers were already eagerly curious given the content and theme of the play, according to The Guardian, it was even to their shock that “suddenly you realize you’re in for not just humour but a a thought provoking tale that just keeps on getting better.” The musical’s run in Australia just as successful, with the Sydney Morning Herald even reviewing that the Book of Mormon is a “dynamite production of a show that has consistently been called the funniest Broadway musical of all time.”
What comes as no surprise however is that due to its success, The Book of Mormon’s several productions globally have earned it nine Tony Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, three Outer Circle Critics awards, four Olivier Awards, and two Helpmann Awards.
This upbeat, happy, and totally comedic musical continues its tour in New York. New York’s leading theatre venue, Eugene O'Neill Theatre, with its spacious seating capacity, magnificent lighting, and magical sound system will be hosting this October’s performance of The Book of Mormon.
