Coming to you from Broadway, it’s time for New York to laugh their heads off as the musical comedy Book of Mormon will be touring in New York at Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Saturday 2nd August 2025.
The mindblowing and sometimes humorously offensive musical Book of Mormon centers around of two Mormon Elders in training to become missionaries – Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, who are sent on a mission to a remote village in Uganda to share their faith with its residents. The Broadway show deliberately satirizes faith in general through the eyes of the pair, as Cunningham comes up with fact mixed with fiction to teach religion to the locals.
The Book of Mormon was produced by Robert Lopez, Trey Parker, and Matt Stone, the same creators of the animated TV show South Park and the Broadway play Avenue Q.

Launching in 2011, The Book of Mormon has undoubtedly been one of the most thriving Broadway musicals since its inception. Conceptualized by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, the musical is a different perspective on the Latter-day Saints (LDS) founder and prophet Joseph Smith and his Book of Mormon. The show was intended to debut off Broadway at the New York Theatre workshop after its 2008 staged reading, though this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as its actual debut in 2011 moved to a more prominent location at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.
In just a year, the Broadway play was already approved for a U.S. national tour that lasted four years, including a run in Salt Lake City, Utah! The show also continued on to be produced in several locations, with a Chicago production performed in 2012, a West End production in 2013, and Australian and European productions both produced in 2017.
The unconventionality and nonconformity of this musical were key components to this success. It shares the story of Elder Kevin Price and Elder Arnold Cunningham, two LDS missionaries who prepare to preach their faith in a remote village in Uganda. It is there that they struggle with the local issues that the villagers face, as well as their different methods in preaching their religion, given that Cunningham deceives the villagers by adding fictional parts from science fiction and fantasy stories into his sermons, while Price is resolved to teach the villagers in the usual, orthodox manner. The way the musical is shared with the audience is performed in quite an unorthodox manner as well, usually satirizing religion in its script and also injecting comedy in both of its acts, and of course, let's not forget the showtunes!
For its current run, the Book of Mormon will be in New York in August at the magnificent theatre venue of Eugene O'Neill Theatre, which holds an excellent stage, sound system and acoustics, and top facilities that is fit for this critically-acclaimed musical.
