Joseph Smith was called a prophet "dumb dumb dumb dumb". If you're not from the Salt Lake City area, there's a good chance that your intro to the story of The Book of Mormon came from a South Park episode. That episode led to the creation of The Book Of Mormon from the creators of the Comedy Central hit and for more than a decade, it's been entertaining crowds with big laughs and exceptional songs like "I Believe" and "Turn It Off". Now you have a chance to see this performance live in New York, New York at Eugene O'Neill theater on Saturday 8th August 2026.
There's no question that The Book Of Mormon is the most unapologetic and irreverent show to hit Broadway, arguably ever. The 9 Tony show-stopping production, including Best Musical (2011), has been a mainstay at the historic Eugene O'Neill theatre since 2011. Ironically, Trey Parker and Matt Stone had an interest in musicals before they developed the beloved community of South Park, Colorado. Don't think for a second that The Book Of Mormon was created without careful planning - Parker and Stone collaborated with Robert Lopez to craft this Broadway phenomenon. This version of The Book of Mormon features a strong ensemble that will fully deliver the humor and absurd elements of the story. Saturday 8th August 2026 is set to be an entertaining evening at the landmark 1,108-seat Eugene O'Neill theater, located at 230 West 49th Street in the heart of the Theater District. From the moment that people read "From the creators of South Park", they have a certain expectation about what they're going to see on stage. Yes, to be fair, if you look carefully, you'll find Cartman there somewhere. However, this is a performance that's still drawing large audiences more than 15 years after its Broadway top-teir. Created by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, this 9-time Tony Award winner including Best Musical has been a mainstay at the historic Eugene O'Neill theatre since 2011. Saturday 8th August 2026 marks your chance to experience it live for yourself.
If you think that this is just a performance that Trey Parker and Matt Stone came up with to trash a religion, you're in for a different experience. Without revealing too much, we can say, the story runs on this sense of naivety from the characters, but they are learning as the story unfolds. It makes them engaging and it's truly what has kept fans flocking to theaters when The Book of Mormon is playing. As with any musical, some of these songs also help hold your attention throughout the performance. When it's all set and done, you might have a moment of disbelief, but you'll know you've had a well known experience as the talented actors keep you focused on every moment. With a running time of 2.5 hours including one 15-minute intermission, the show features explicit language and is not suitable for children under 4.
When headed to a play, finding the right seats to have a clear view of the stage is essential to the entire experience. General seating guidelines still matter! That means you're going to want to look for a spot near the center section. Also, think twice before sitting in the very front. That's not where you're going to have the ideal view of the stage. On the contrary, you're going to be too close to take in the full stage. The Eugene O'Neill theatre offers Orchestra and Mezzanine seating levels across its 1,108-seat capacity, with accessible accommodations available.
If you want to experience a well-known and widely discussed Broadway production, then don't hesitate to select the "Buy Tickets" option as soon as possible. Spots for The Book of Mormon often sell out during touring runs.
