The Book Of Mormon

Eugene O'Neill Theatre

The Book of Mormon, one of the most successful shows in Broadway history, will now be available in New York! and performing at Eugene O'Neill Theatre on Saturday 13th June 2026!

This tale is of the missionary journey of an odd pair of two Mormon missionaries, Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham, the Book of Mormon creatively challenges religion and religious storytelling, and presents it in a visionary and comedic manner. The two missionaries are tasked with a mission to preach to the villagers of a local village in Uganda, who turn out to be indifferent to what they aim to preach.

The Book of Mormon was a brainchild back in 2003 by creators Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Robert Lopez, continuing on to its premiere in 2011. Since then, the musical comedy has become one of the highest grossing Broadway musicals in history, with repeatedly sold-out shows for over a decade.

The Book of Mormon will only be performing in New York’s Eugene O'Neill Theatre for a limited period this summer. Don’t wait for seats to run out on this popular Saturday showing!

Kevin Price and Arnold Cunningham are two coming of age Mormon missionaries tasked with a mission to a native Ugandan village. Their goal is to convert the villagers to their faith, but they find out upon their arrival that their job is more complex than they had assumed, given the great deal of local issues that the villagers face such as oppression, an HIV/AIDS epidemic, and poverty among others. The pair then gradually realize that they must use more unusual means to convert the population than the usual means that they know.

It is in this duo's unique dynamic where the performance of The Book of Mormon excels – allowing the subject matter of religion to be blasphemed and injected with comedy, showtunes, and a bit of crude language, yet still remaining unobjectionable to its audience. Since its opening night in 2011, the Broadway play has been received positively despite its manner of conveying its message. The Mormon church itself supported the musical, purchasing ads and releasing slogans specifically that stated: “You’ve seen the play, now read the book.” In its West End performances, the repeatedly sold-out shows were a testament to The Book of Mormon’s success. Though most viewers were already expecting a shock given the content and theme of the play, according to The Guardian, it was even to their surprise that “suddenly you realize you’re in for not just humour but a a thought provoking tale that just keeps on getting better.” The musical’s run in Australia also loved by theatre fans, with the Sydney Morning Herald even proclaiming that the Book of Mormon is a “dynamite production of a show that has consistently been called the funniest Broadway musical of all time.”

It's no shock that due to its success, The Book of Mormon’s several shows globally have earned it nine Tony Awards, four Drama Desk Awards, three Outer Circle Critics awards, four Olivier Awards, and two Helpmann Awards.

This upbeat, happy, and totally silly play continues its tour in New York.
