The Book Of Mormon

This Thursday 30th November 2023, you could be in New York to watch what Vogue Magazine called “the filthiest, most offensive, and—surprise—sweetest thing you’ll see on Broadway this year” when The Book of Mormon comes to the world famous Eugene O'Neill Theatre. This Broadway musical, written in part by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, tells the side-splitting tale of two Latter-Day Saints missionaries attempting to bring faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to a Ugandan village only to discover that for some men and women, faith is the furthest concern on their minds. The story provides a loving satire of missionary movements while making fun of and embracing the American art form of the inspirational book musical. Audiences will laugh at this tuneful and truly hilarious musical that New York Post reports “has heart”. Book your tickets to see Book of Mormon by clicking the Buy Tickets button below.

The narrative follows the journey of two Mormon missionaries as they strive to share their faith with the locals of a small Ugandan settlement. Crafted by the authors of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, in addition to the record-breaking Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony winner, Robert Lopez, the musical score is renowned for receiving its very own Tony Award.

In response to pleas from cast members to reassess the depiction of black characters in light of concerns about racial justice, a few lyrics and elements of the plot were marginally altered back in 2021. Nevertheless, the themes of friendship, faith, and optimism, which surpass all religious beliefs, persist the same throughout the show.
In their evaluation, The New York Daily News reveals how The Book of Mormon is a performance where you frequently find yourself laughing one moment and subsequently realize your mouth agape the next, finally tearing up and, finally, rooting for the lead singers. Writers Stone and Parker are well-known for their "take-no-prisoners, nothing-is-sacred technique to comedy."

Additionally, Lopez exemplifies a skill for thumbing his nose at current standards. As all three share credit for the script, music, and lyrics, this show can be characterized as "foolish, heartfelt, and extraordinarily impolite, while the score uniformly bright and intelligent keeps the pages in this Book rotating seamlessly.”

The Eugene O'Neill Theatre is viewed as one of the prime locations for in-demand Broadway shows in the whole New York! Come the performance area at New York for the ultimate viewing experience of The Book of Mormon.
